What is your best do over? At Judson Learning Academy, our best do over had to be Grandparent Day 2.0. On a traditional campus, grandparents might have been celebrated on the day before or the day after Sunday, September 13, 2026. Our true intention was to celebrate our students grandparents was supposed to be on Monday, September 14th. That day was not meant to be in the cards because JLA could not control the outside factors.
Instead, JLA rescheduled Grandparents Day before the month ended. The 2.0 celebration actually happened because it took an amazing Faculty to make sure that our decorations, table set ups, pastries, and coffee were ready. The writing prompts were readt on each table. This meant students would write a note to their grandparents and at the same time grandparents wrote a note to their student.
Once our AM session arrived, it was quickly apparent that we were not going to have any grandparents. Then, a sweet surprise happened with T Ricketts grandparents showing up during the morning session.
Even sweeter was meeting our grandparents from the PM session. That is when Counselor Gonzalez and Social Worker Cruz gave their best to our six sets of grandparents. More note writing, pictures taking, and more conversations between our grandparents and students.
We enjoyed having our grandparents and students being able to spend time together. We are grateful for the memories made and grateful to all who made it happen. This is how we are able to continue making our high school dreams come true by being the relationship builders and planting those seeds that all things are possible with grace and goals. Let’s Get Graduated.
